Cario in Review 2025 — Evolving Freight Operations for 2026

09 January 2026

Director, Cario

2025 was a year of meaningful evolution for Cario. From customer service and freight visibility to last-mile execution and driver compliance, our platform took a major step forward — setting the foundation for what’s next.

As we move into 2026, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what has been a transformative year for Cario

Throughout 2025, our focus was clear: make freight operations simpler, more connected, and easier to manage at scale.

Over the past 12 months, we delivered a significant number of enhancements across Cario FMS and Cario Connect TMS — all driven by real customer workflows and operational realities. These updates go beyond incremental improvements. They represent a step-change in how freight is planned, managed, supported, and delivered across organisations.

Here’s a look back at what we built in 2025, and how it sets the foundation for the year ahead.

A stronger operational core with Cario FMS

Hypercare: a new home for customer service and exception management

One of the most impactful releases of the year was the Hypercare — a dedicated workspace designed specifically for customer service and logistics support teams.

Hypercare brings consignments, shipment events, internal notes, and status updates into a single, centralised dashboard. Advanced filtering by customer, date, consignment, and event status makes it easier to locate issues, prioritise actions, and resolve enquiries efficiently.

With real-time updates, editable layouts, and direct status management, Hypercare reduces internal handovers and gives teams the confidence to respond faster and more accurately to customers.

We introduced the Freight Overview screen to give teams a comprehensive view of freight activity across customers and timeframes.

This view surfaces key shipment details — carrier, service, reference numbers, quantities, weights, volumes, and delivery status — within a highly configurable table. Real-time refresh, saved layouts, and flexible filtering allow users to tailor the experience to their role, whether they’re managing day-to-day operations or reviewing performance at scale.

The result is clearer oversight, faster decisions, and fewer blind spots across the freight network.

To help customers avoid unnecessary freight charges caused by inefficient packing, we launched Order Packing Optimisation.

This optional paid feature automatically groups products into optimal transport units using configurable product dimensions, container rules, and tolerances. A 3D visualisation engine allows teams to review packing logic, redistribute items, and maximise container utilisation before shipping.

For high-volume shippers, this has delivered tangible cost savings while improving packing accuracy and consistency.

Managing freight insurance at scale can be complex, so in 2025 we made it seamless.

Cario now allows freight insurance to be applied automatically during bulk consignment uploads, based on goods value and goods type. Insurance status, approvals, and decline reasons are clearly displayed at the consignment level, reducing ambiguity and manual follow-up.

This ensures coverage decisions are made early and transparently, improving compliance and operational confidence.

Several targeted enhancements were released to improve accuracy and flexibility across freight planning and rating:

  • Estimated Hours can be entered in decimal or HH:MM format, with automatic conversion.
  • Product vs Shipment Units provide clearer separation between item-level data and transport units.
  • Item Weight vs Total Weight improves accuracy in rating and reporting.
  • Route-based location rating enables more advanced rate matching scenarios, including Route-to-Route and Zone-to-Route pricing.

Together, these updates ensure the most accurate rates, timings, and calculations are applied — even in complex carrier and pricing environments.

To improve delivery forecasting, we introduced Carrier ETA vs Likely ETA.

Users can now view:

  • The carrier-provided ETA
  • A Likely ETA derived from historical shipment performance
  • An Adjusted ETA that accounts for public holidays and external factors

This layered approach supports better planning, clearer customer communication, and more realistic delivery expectations across the network.

2025 also delivered a range of usability and compliance-focused enhancements:

  • Fragile, Liquid, and Perishable flags to support special handling and compliance
  • Hand Rates, Fuel Surcharge, Fees, and Tax managed through a dedicated cost panel
  • Editable and savable table layouts across customer service and consignment screens
  • User-level default rows per page for a consistent viewing experience
  • Responsive scale and layout improvements at any zoom level
  • Knowledge Base hyperlinks embedded in UI banners for faster access to help content

These improvements collectively reduce friction and allow teams to configure Cario around how they actually work.

Elevate Managed Fleets with Cario Connect TMS

Dynamic Runs: flexibility for drivers in the field

One of the biggest updates to Cario Connect was the introduction of Dynamic Runs.

Drivers can now create and manage delivery runs directly within the app, without relying on pre-assigned routes. Runs are built dynamically based on scanned consignments, and deliveries can be reordered on the go.

This flexibility supports real-world delivery conditions while maintaining visibility and control for operations teams.

Cario Connect now supports a wider range of delivery scan types including :

  • Card Left
  • Futile
  • Damage
  • Check Address
  • and more...

These scan types can be pinned for easy access and used directly during delivery workflows, improving exception reporting, compliance, and communication between drivers, operations teams, and customers.

To support Chain of Responsibility requirements, we introduced driver lockout with supervisor notification.

Drivers who fail required assessments are automatically prevented from starting or joining runs for the day. Supervisors are notified immediately, ensuring safety and compliance are enforced consistently across the fleet.

Looking ahead to 2026

Everything delivered in 2025 shares a common theme: greater visibility, stronger control, and better alignment across teams.

As we move into 2026, we’ll continue to build on this foundation — expanding automation, deepening data insights, and strengthening the connection between planning, execution, and customer experience across both Cario FMS and Cario Connect.

Thank you to our customers and partners for your continued trust and collaboration. We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to evolving freight operations together.
